The hills of Gattinara
between land, sky, volcanic porphyries, and unique microclimates
The Soil
The Climate
These soils, formed about 280 million years ago, are rich in particular minerals, rare and uncommon in the rest of Piedmont. The roots of our Nebbiolo vines dive directly into this volcanic bedrock, from which they absorb nuances of minerality, energy, and freshness that would be unthinkable elsewhere. Completing this uniqueness is the alpine microclimate shaped by the proximity of the Monte Rosa massif. The cool currents that descend from the valleys at night create strong temperature excursions between day and night, favoring a slow and harmonious ripening of the grapes, preserving their aromas, acidity, and aromatic complexity.
In the Chalice
In the glass, the result is a Gattinara DOCG that tells its origin with authenticity. The aromas are complex and refined, dominated by notes of ripe red fruit, sweet spices, balsamic hints, and the typical iron tones of volcanic wines from Alto Piemonte. The tannic structure, dense yet elegant, accompanies a deep and harmonious sip, supported by lively freshness and vibrant sapidity.
The finish, long and mineral, reveals the unmistakable imprint of Nebbiolo di Gattinara, capable of uniting power and finesse in a rare balance. A wine that reflects the land from which it comes: intense, authentic, and unique in the panorama of Italian reds.
